THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Optimising multi-functional square footage and integrating hidden utility within high-traffic communal zones without compromising spatial flow.

THE BRIEF & COLLABORATION: Can You Build an Open Concept Without Clutter?
The homeowners approached Vitas Design SG with a precise objective: they wanted an open, clutter-free environment that could effortlessly accommodate remote work, family meals, and private relaxation. The footprint required careful programming to prevent the individual zones from feeling compartmentalised.

Through close collaboration, the design team re-engineered the layout. By anchoring the communal spaces with a continuous architectural language of warm wood tones, geometric linework, and built-in features, Vitas Design SG unlocked a sense of continuity that makes the entire apartment feel significantly larger than its physical boundaries.

SEQUENTIAL SPATIAL WALKTHROUGH
1. THE LIVING & COMMUNAL HUB: Where Walls Dissolve Into High-Capacity Storage
The main living zone demonstrates the power of continuous perimeter planning. A massive, floor-to-ceiling entertainment wall serves as the anchor for the entire space, pairing deep woodgrain textures with crisp matte black framing. The floating console keeps the floor area clear, maintaining visual lightness and making cleaning effortless.

Opposite the television, the seating area balances rich textures with structural simplicity. Deep charcoal plush seating sits against a feature wall defined by a deep terracotta-rust accent band, framed sharply by charcoal borders. This band cuts horizontally across the room, anchoring the eye and adding architectural interest without the need for bulky artwork. Above, dark wood ceiling fans match the linear details of the cabinetry, ensuring the design language is cohesive from floor to ceiling.

2. THE DINING & WORK ANCHOR: Flipping a Commuter Feast Into a Workstation
Immediately adjacent to the lounge space, the dining zone is engineered for maximum utility. A custom timber bench is built directly into the wall, eliminating the clearance space required for traditional chairs and opening up the primary walkway.

Suspended metallic pendant lamps cast focused, warm illumination over the dining table, turning it instantly from a mealtime gathering spot into a dedicated workstation for laptops. The rich rust-toned accent wall continues into this zone, providing a vibrant backdrop that elevates everyday routines.

3. THE MASTER SUITE & INTEGRATED VANITY: The Hidden Screen That Steals the Show
In the primary bedroom, the design language shifts toward a serene, textured palette. The headboard wall features a delicate, textured stone-grey wallpaper that plays beautifully with the natural light filtering through the sheer curtains.

Facing the bed, a secondary floating media wall mimics the design of the living room, ensuring stylistic continuity. A vertical wood-grain privacy screen shields the adjacent wardrobe and vanity area from direct view upon entering the room, offering a clever architectural transition that preserves the room’s clean lines.

4. THE HIDEAWAY HOME OFFICE: The Secret Room That Pulls Out from the Wall
One of the most innovative spaces in the home is the dedicated study and utility room. To maximise the compact room, Vitas Design SG executed a brilliantly engineered fold-down wall bed system.

When the bed is upright, the room acts as a spacious home office complete with a floating desk, upper display cabinets, and dedicated printer housing. When guests arrive, the unit smoothly lowers into a full-sized bed without disrupting the surrounding storage. This hyper-functional footprint shifting exemplifies smart Singapore space planning.

5. JUNIOR BEDROOMS & PRIVATE BATH: Custom Tailoring for Growth and Serenity
The secondary bedrooms are tailored directly to individual lifestyles while maintaining the home's overall design DNA. One room employs an asymmetric shelf layout featuring playful primary colour block accents inside the cubbies, giving the occupant space for personal expression while keeping floor space entirely clear for a study desk and single bed.

The bathroom rounds out the home with a clean, hospitality-inspired aesthetic. Light sand-coloured stone tiles line the walls, paired with a floating black vanity, minimalist open shelving for toiletries, and a glass-enclosed shower stall that keeps the layout feeling bright and airy.

MATERIALS & ACCENTS SPOTLIGHT: The Textures that Tie the Blueprint Together
The cohesion of this project relies on a carefully curated material palette that repeats across different zones:
• Deep Architectural Woodgrains: Used extensively on the main entertainment walls, study units, and dining benches to bring natural warmth.
• Matte Black Structural Framing: Found on cabinet borders, handles, and lighting tracks to introduce sharp, contemporary contrast.
• Terracotta Rust Accent Planes: Injected into the living and dining backdrops to deliver a sophisticated color story that breaks away from standard neutral palettes.
• Textured Stone Wall Coverings: Implemented in the master bedroom to soften the environment and enhance rest.

THE VITAS DIFFERENCE: Why Standard Layouts Are Yesterday's News
This project proves that high-level, humanised design isn’t about square footage—it is about execution. Vitas Design SG approaches every renovation with a meticulous eye for the client’s lifestyle, ensuring that custom carpentry serves a distinct purpose while respecting strict timelines and budgets. From the concealed multi-functional bed to the spatial flow of the main living zone, this home stands as a masterclass in modern, urban living.
