THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Maximising workflow, storage, and visual depth across a compact, highly segmented footprint while maintaining wide walkways and an unbroken sense of bright continuity.
THE BRIEF & COLLABORATION
Configuring standard private apartment blueprints in Singapore often presents a distinct spatial puzzle: how do you integrate intensive storage walls without making the layout look blocky and confined? For this project, Vitas Design SG focused on linear alignment and highly reflective finishes. By pairing polished marble-veined porcelain walls, custom-tailored glass displays, and floating cabinetry runs, the design team established a fluid spatial workflow that makes a compact floor plan feel incredibly expansive.
SEQUENTIAL SPATIAL WALKTHROUGH: From Shared Social Hubs to Personalised Sanctuaries
1. THE FOYER ENTRANCE & INTEGRATED CABINETRY AXIS
The journey begins at an immediate entryway transition engineered to keep the main living corridor completely free of clutter.
• The Full-Height Storage Wall: A massive run of handleless cream cabinetry stands flush against the main wall axis. This installation completely conceals deep household utilities out of sight, smoothly integrating a full-length mirrored console and an illuminated entry seat niche wrapped in warm wood grain.
• The Living Room Connection: Looking inward from the threshold reveals a completely open sightline where polished, large-format marble-veined porcelain wall panels catch the overhead light, drawing the eye naturally into the social zone.
2. THE LIVING LOUNGE & ENTERTAINING HUB
The main social hall prioritises flow, clean horizontal lines, and clever, floor-clearing design features.
• The Tailored Media Wall: The television console features a multi-layered design. Matte cream base paneling is balanced by an elongated floating console and a custom-lit vertical glass tower with reflective gold framing, perfect for showcasing art objects.
• The Social Continuity: A deep tan leather sectional sofa faces the media installation, framed by full-height window treatments that diffuse incoming daylight smoothly across the highly polished floor tiles to establish a relaxed environment for hosting.
3. THE DRY COUNTER & PARALLEL CULINARY GALLEY
The cooking zone redefines standard utility by separating into an inviting breakfast bar and a highly efficient galley worktop.
• The Quartz Peninsula Bar: A beautiful quartz-topped counter partitions the walking paths from the kitchen. This island features an open display niche underneath with warm integrated lighting, acting as a natural conversation hub for hosting.
• The Integrated Workflow: Moving deeper reveals an elongated parallel layout. High-capacity matte white upper cabinets are balanced by base cabinetry columns that perfectly housing a front-load washing machine and refrigerator flush within the carpentry, keeping lines pristine.
4. THE PRIVATE RETREAT & EXECUTIVE HOME OFFICE
The private wings divide into quiet, adaptive spaces focused entirely on deep rest and focused personal productivity.
• The Serene Master Suite: The primary bedroom pairs warm timber accents with a plush cream-upholstered headboard. Full-height sliding wardrobe panels save swing room, while a sleek grey-tinted glass door separates the sleeping zone from the ensuite to preserve a boutique hotel aesthetic.
• The Linear Workspace Wing: A dedicated study room features a wide walnut-grain executive desk paired with a professional ergonomic office chair. A massive full-height display bookshelf frames the perimeter wall, keeping books organised while preserving wide walkway clearance.
5. THE MONOLITHIC LUXURY BATHROOMS
The bathrooms mimic the aesthetics of a high-end luxury day spa, departing completely from standard apartment formats to prioritise deep visual texture.
• The Exotic Quartz Ensuite: A bold, dramatically veined dark marble quartz feature wall spans continuously behind a floating wood-grain vanity cabinet, topped by a modern surface-mounted vessel sink and integrated mirror ledges.
• The Minimalist Shower Corridor: The walk-in shower enclosures feature sleek frameless glass dividers, chrome hardware, and precise overhead lighting trim to keep the tight wet footprint feeling incredibly open and fresh.
MATERIALS & ACCENTS SPOTLIGHT
The incredible visual harmony across this apartment relies on a highly disciplined, premium palette of tactile textures:
• Polished Marble Quartz & Porcelain Panels: Applied to the main living hall backdrop and bathroom surfaces to anchor the home with premium, hard-wearing materials.
• High-Gloss Cream Laminates & Warm Wood Grain: Deployed continuously across the extensive entry storage and bedroom carpentry to weave a natural thread of warmth.
• Reflective Gold Profiles & Backlit LEDs: Integrated within the glass display cabinets and vanity mirrors to eliminate harsh shadows and stretch compact walkways.
THE VITAS DIFFERENCE
This private apartment demonstrates that a compact condominium layout does not require compromising on visual character or intensive utility. By replacing bulky standalone furniture with floating media consoles, parallel kitchen galleries, and multi-functional bedroom layouts, Vitas Design SG delivered a highly organised home customised entirely to the owners' daily habits, timeline, and budget.
