THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Harmonising rich, high-gloss stone textures, distinct individual bedroom colour themes, and custom storage solutions within a standard HDB footprint without disrupting spatial flow or visual volume.

THE BRIEF & COLLABORATION: Where personal expression replaces public housing predictability.
Standard public housing layouts in Singapore often default to uniform neutral palettes out of a fear of cramping the footprint, resulting in clinical, cookie-cutter interiors. When the homeowners partnered with Vitas Design SG, their direct mandate was to break away from this template. They envisioned a home packed with premium textures, distinct individual colour identities for each bedroom, and integrated storage solutions that felt architectural rather than boxy.

Through close co-creation sessions with the family, the design team mapped out a layout that treats vertical wall planes as visual anchors. By balancing high-contrast feature walls, high-gloss customised carpentry, and vibrant colour zones, they created a fluid, continuous narrative across the entire home, proving that bold personal character can live comfortably alongside clean, humanised HDB architecture.

SEQUENTIAL SPATIAL WALKTHROUGH
1. THE ARRIVAL & OPEN SOCIAL ZONE
Setting an immediate, high-end tone through dramatic stone features and geometric depth.

The front door steps directly into an open-concept living and dining pavilion designed to maximise visual length and establish an upscale atmosphere.
• Smart Carpentry & Material Play: The main entertainment wall features a floor-to-ceiling custom installation that pairs rich marble-pattern panels with deep timber framing, while a low-profile media console floats off the floor to keep the walkable footprint clear. Directly adjacent, a built-in display hutch utilises integrated warm ambient lighting and mirrored glass panels to bounce daylight deep into the entry passage.
• The Transition into Vivid Geometry: Moving into the dining zone, a bold blue accent wall grounds the secondary media setup, while the dining arrangement centers around a geometric stone-topped table framed by clean monochrome chairs beneath an abstract framed artwork piece. High-gloss floor tiles run continuously underfoot, reflecting natural light upward to amplify the feeling of space.

2. THE CULINARY GALLERY & TRANSITION FOYER
Blending minimalist line work with high-durability kitchen utility.

The interior transitions smoothly into a streamlined gallery kitchen, engineered to deliver heavy-duty functionality within a narrow corridor.
• Two-Tone Cabinet Engineering: Upper cabinetry features a clean, handleless matte white finish that blends into the ceiling line, while the lower storage units utilise smooth metallic grey surfaces. Under-cabinet warm LED strips illuminate continuous solid-surface countertops, creating a shadow-free space for meal preparation.
• Streamlined Foyer Flow: The adjacent foyer wall integrates a flush-mount oven stack and matching custom pantry doors wrapped in a soft stone-textured laminate, leading straight out to a glass-panelled patio entrance that introduces excellent cross-ventilation.

3. THE PRIVATE RETREATS: Lilac & Sky Blue Sanctuaries
Translating high-contrast character into deeply personal rest zones.

The private bedrooms demonstrate that customised personal expression can be achieved using distinct colour palettes tailored around each family member.
• The Lavender Master Suite: The main bedroom embraces a soft lilac colour theme, featuring full-height wardrobes with integrated black finger-pull lines. A custom bed headboard sits flush against a feature wall containing a built-in recessed display niche, ideal for curating fragrance bottles or decor accents without taking up bedside floor space.
• The Sky Blue Retiring Room: A secondary bedroom adopts a calm slate-blue backdrop. Full-height wardrobes with vertical grain detailing run right up to the ceiling, while a custom study desk area sits beneath open box shelving lit by linear track spotlights, offering a quiet remote work sanctuary.

4. THE BOUTIQUE WASHROOMS
Emulating high-end hotel environments within strict spatial parameters.

The final zones trade basic public housing utilities for an immersive stone environment focused on clean daily restoration.
• Tactile Stone Envelopes: Floor-to-ceiling marble-veined wall tiles wrap the master and common bathrooms completely, creating a clean, unified background. Custom dark vanities support crisp white ceramic vessel sinks, lit softly by hidden warm LED strip backlighting beneath broad mirrors.
• Fluid Delineation: High-precision black frame glass sliding screens isolate the shower areas, keeping the wet and dry zones functioning independently without blocking natural daylight from the overhead frosted ventilation windows.

MATERIALS & ACCENTS SPOTLIGHT: The tactile triad that bridges structural warmth and rich geometry.
The visual harmony across this multi-layered HDB flat relies on a strictly managed mix of finishes:
• High-Gloss Marble & Veined Stone Panels: Applied across primary living room features and bathroom walls to establish an immediate luxury anchor.
• Vivid Matte Accent Walls: The deliberate placement of rich cobalt blue, soft lilac, and sky blue paint tones creates distinct moods for each individual zone.
• Custom Integrated Lighting Tracks: Linear LED downlights and hidden shelf strips throw soft, warm light across textures, softening high-contrast stone patterns.

THE VITAS DIFFERENCE
Why settle for a basic BTO or resale template when your space can adapt to your personality?

This project perfectly demonstrates what sets Vitas Design SG apart from standard turn-key firms: the ability to transform a standard public housing template into a highly personalised luxury suite. Where typical contractors simply push generic turn-key mood boards or try to talk clients out of using bold colours and intense stone textures out of a fear of execution failure, Vitas Design SG actively steps up to build complex ideas. By managing strict project timelines, respecting budget boundaries, and engineering smart carpentry like the custom recessed bedroom niches, the team delivers premium, highly tailored homes that respect your investment and your identity.
