THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Creating a highly cohesive, luminous open-plan layout that balances extensive full-height storage with a continuous, premium hospitality feel across communal and private rooms.
THE BRIEF & COLLABORATION
Standard apartment plans in Singapore often wrestle with the balance between heavy storage requirements and a light, open environment. For this home, Vitas Design SG demonstrated that deep storage volumes do not need to look blocky or heavy. By pairing polished cream floor finishes, custom-tailored glass displays, and a heavily integrated layered lighting scheme, the team established a seamless spatial workflow that turns an everyday apartment into an expansive boutique sanctuary.
SEQUENTIAL SPATIAL WALKTHROUGH: From Open Social Hubs to Cosy Private Sanctuaries
1. THE LIVING LOUNGE & INTEGRATED FOYER
The entryway flows directly into a vast, sun-drenched communal lounge designed for both entertainment and daily decompression.
• The Tailored Media Wall: The television console features a multi-layered design. Matte cream base paneling is accented by a custom-lit vertical glass tower with reflective gold framing, perfect for showcasing art objects.
• The Spatial Depth: An elegant beige leather sectional sofa faces the installation, framed by full-height sliding glass window treatments that allow natural daylight to bounce beautifully off the polished porcelain floors.
2. THE HOSPITALITY BAR & DINING NEXUS
Positioned directly adjacent to the main lounge is a highly functional dining configuration that references upscale restaurant lounges.
• The Quartz Peninsula Bar: A beautiful quartz-topped breakfast counter partitions the walking paths from the entry axis. This island features an open display niche beneath the main counter, adding a highly practical layout for serving morning espresso or evening drinks.
• The Custom Chandelier Drop: A striking modern ring chandelier hangs above a polished dining table paired with clear acrylic ghost chairs, pulling light deeper into the core of the apartment.
3. THE CRISP CULINARY GALLEY
The heavy-cooking workspace transitions behind an open threshold, maximising efficiency within a clean L-shaped layout.
• High-Gloss Continuity: Upper cabinetry is finished in a high-gloss white laminate that catches the ceiling spotlights, contrasted cleanly by warm beige base storage units.
• Integrated Workflow: A deep stainless steel undermount sink sits adjacent to a built-in cooktop and glass hood arrangement, keeping prep and cooking zones beautifully fluid.
4. THE PRIVATE HALLWAY & MASTER RETREAT
The transition to the private wing maintains the clean lines seen in the social areas, prioritising tailored rest.
• The Corridor Axis: A warm timber entry door opens into a pristine, handleless white corridor walkway accented by textured abstract wall art.
• The Master Suite: The primary bedroom focuses on premium comfort. A custom low-profile bed features a built-in media console wall backed by warm grey concrete-texture wallpaper. Full-height built-in wardrobes wrap the opposite wall, finished in smooth cream laminates with slim black vertical handles.
5. THE TAILORED JUNIOR ROOMS & BOUTIQUE BATHROOMS
The remaining square footage adapts dynamically to individual needs while retaining a boutique hotel standard for utilities.
• The Minimalist Wardrobe Chambers: The secondary bedrooms optimise space cleanly. One utilises flush white sliding wardrobe tracks, while another integrates soft pink accents and a playful patterned blind setup for a child's space.
• The Luxury Stone Bathrooms: Both wet zones feature premium finishes. Large-format concrete-grey and textured stone wall panels frame a clear glass walk-in shower enclosure, complete with a modern floating wood-grain vanity cabinet and backlit mirror ledges.
MATERIALS & ACCENTS SPOTLIGHT
A highly disciplined, repeated collection of finishes bridges the separate family zones together:
• Polished Quartz & High-Gloss Laminates: Deployed across the kitchen, dining peninsula, and living area to maximise internal light-reflection.
• Reflective Gold & Metal Framing: Integrated within the glass display cabinets to introduce an upscale, contemporary edge.
• Layered Perimeter LED Cove Lights: Embedded within dropped ceiling trays across the living lounge and bedrooms to erase harsh shadows.
THE VITAS DIFFERENCE
This flat demonstrates that open-concept layouts look their best when your built-in elements are treated as fluid architectural forms. By incorporating custom peninsula bars, integrated glass showcases, and smart multi-level bedroom carpentry, Vitas Design SG delivered a highly functional home tailored perfectly to the owners' daily habits, timeline, and budget.
